Mold on Walls

I went into our guestroom today...
and smelled something YUCKY!

Did that darn dog of ours pee on the floor?
NO....I pulled up the carpet...
MOLD!

After I pulled up the carpet...I decided to be a good carpenter and pull
off the baseboards.
MOLD...all behind the baseboards.
(this must have come for the toilet overflow last year)
oops.

SO...if this has ever happened to you...
Here's how you clean mold:

  1. Step 1

Put a face mask on to protect yourself from breathing in the mold and mildew while you are cleaning. Then, slide on a pair of rubber gloves to protect your hands from the cleaning supplies you will be using.

  2. Step 2

Make a paste out of water and baking soda. If you don't have baking soda, use a product such as Soft Scrub.

  3. Step 3

Use a rag to scrub the bathroom from top to bottom.

  4. Step 4

Rinse off the baking soda with plain water and turn on all of the lights in the bathroom. Wait for the bathroom to dry out before moving on to the next step.

  5. Step 5

Pour 1 cup of bleach in a bucket and add 5 cups of hot water. Double that if you have a large bathroom.

  6. Step 6

Scrub the bathroom (especially the parts that have the mold and mildew) with a rag and the bleach/water solution. This is what will kill the mold and mildew. Again, let the bathroom dry with all the lights on.

  7. Step 7

Pour vinegar in a squirt bottle (like the ones you use on your plants) and squirt the bathtub, shower walls, toilet and sink with the vinegar. This will get rid of any smells left over from the mold and mildew. It doesn't need to be scrubbed on or wiped off. You can just spray it and walk away.

thank you ehow!
