The U. S. Marines have asked us to help them collect toys for their annual TOYS FOR TOTS drive. Please bring an unwrapped toy to donate, let’s show them just how generous Henderson is.

The Henderson Winterfest celebrations will kick-off with "Sounds of the Season" a concert by the Henderson Symphony Orchestra. Many local high school choir's will join the Henderson Symphony Orchestra as they entertain you. This is a great way to let the young people of our community know how proud you are of them, while you enjoy an outstandingly special concert.FRIDAY: December 11th - 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Friday's guests of honor will be none other than Santa Claus and Mayor Andy Hafen who will officiate lighting the holiday tree at 6:00p.m.1st Annual Festival of Trees:Trees decorated by civic groups representing various countries and cultures will be on display on the Henderson Events Plaza. Stop by and enjoy the mix of ethnic and cultural flavors. Some of the countries being represented are Ireland, Korea, Philippines, Hawaii, Scotland and Italy.
The "Tree Lot" will officially open:Stop by and purchase a tree, stand or wreath for your home.There will be ice skating, train rides, wagon rides, kids activities, pony rides, a petting zoo, craft fair, and live entertainment making an evening full of fun.Entertainment on the Events Plaza will include:International School Chorus at 5:15p.m.Gingerbread House Contest 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. in the Convention CenterTree Lighting 6:00p.m.Santa's Arrival 6:00p.m.Commemorative Beautification Commission Holiday Decorating Awards 6:00p.m.Schofield & Thurman White Middle Schools at 6:30p.m. until 7:30p.m."The Nutcracker" at 7:30p.m. presented by the Insurgo Theatre Movement, puts a new modern twist on this holiday classic play. Show your community and creative pride by participating in this year's WinterFest Parade, Saturday, December 12, 2009. It's free to enter, and you have a chance at winning a great prize. This year's theme is "Toys on Parade." Each entry will be judged in two catagories, Best Overall Themed Entry ($1,000 prize) and Best Costume ($500 prize).
